Hello! My name is Sophie Clear and I am the Spa Manager at Whittlebury Park. I started at Whittlebury over 10 years ago as a receptionist in the Leisure Club. After receiving such thorough support in this role and gaining so much knowledge about the company as a whole, I knew this was somewhere I wanted to progress.
After working in the leisure club for over two years, an opportunity came up for a Receptionist role in the Spa and I knew this was the direction I wanted to go in. Within a year I was promoted to Spa Reception Supervisor and the support and encouragement from the management team in the Spa was clear to see, which motivated me immensely.
I was shortly given the opportunity to try a totally different role altogether, as Spa Scheduler. With regular one-to-one training and guidance to ensure I gained new skills to work as effectively as possible in my new role, I gained an abundance of experience. I learnt something new everyday and that has continued throughout my time at Whittlebury, which is just one of the things I enjoy so much about working here!
Over the next few years I learnt all about the business side of things in the Spa and built a great relationship with the team. I was keen to learn more and more about the business and there was no end of support and encouragement – the management team strives for each individual to grow their careers.
I was then promoted to Assistant Spa Manager and after a couple of years of learning the ropes in this role, I naturally progressed to Spa Manager when Whittlebury began recruiting for this role.
I am so grateful for the encouragement and support I have received during my time at Whittlebury. Looking back at how far I’ve come, I couldn’t have done it without such strong managers guiding me through, recognising my ability and believing in me.
